Lab. 2, Cell Culture & Advanced Microscopy

Laboratory Description

Labs 2 are equipped to provide controlled environments for the growth and manipulation of cells and microorganisms, respectively. They feature level II laminar cabinets, CO2 incubators, centrifuges and ultracentrifuges, a flow cytometer, fluorescence microscope, and a Carl Zeiss spinning disk confocal microscope. They are still equipped with cold storage equipment, including freezers and deep-freeze (-80°C), and a valuable stock of cell lines stored in liquid nitrogen.

The facility has expertise in handling both transient and stable mammalian cells and provides the necessary resources to conduct cell culture-based experiments. It is managed by a research technician who maintains and stores experimental cell lines while ensuring a safe and clean environment. Customized services are available upon request.

The Light Microscopy facility is the scientific unit of UNIPRO specialised in optical microscopy, providing state-of-the-art systems for fixed and live cell imaging. Technical support, from advice in experimental design to processing/analysis of images is provided, in several research areas from life-sciences, including oncobiology, developmental biology, neurosciences, immunology and regenerative medicine.
