Facilities & Services

At UNIPRO, with cutting-edge equipment and a team of highly skilled researchers, a range of laboratories and services are available, providing personalized guidance and assistance in experimental design and implementation processes, upholding the highest standards of scientific research. Our resources are open to the wider scientific community, the industry sector, health services, and other interested entities.

UNIPRO is directed to the research in the fields of Oral Pathology and Oral Rehabilitation making a translational link between the scientific research to advanced education and training, to scientific community and Society.

UNIPRO has now 4 specialized for UNIPRO projects (including a Cell and Molecular Biology and Histopathology; Cell culture and Advanced Light Microscopy; Oral Rehabilitation and Prosthodontics Research - LIROP; and the Clinical Research Hub), additionally with other Labs (e.g. Microbiology Labs) that are shared with other research and academic activities.

The unit also has an animal vivarium facility for conducting in vivo experimental assays, established in accordance with ethical standards, aiming to ensure the well-being of animals used for experimental purposes.

A startup (CESPU Diagnóstico) founded within the scope of the innovation and with the mission of introducing disruptive technology for oral diagnosis has also the link with UNIPRO.

Overall, the laboratories have been designed to promote the safety of researchers and adhering to rigorous waste management rules. Sustainability is also a key consideration, encouraged through the implementation of eco-friendly practices and resources. Through IUCS, we also have access to shared services such as the Research Support Office and the Logistics Department.

In summary, the UNIPRO infrastructure integrates advanced technology, collaborative workspaces, and safety measures to foster innovative research. Remarkably, the resources allocated to the aforementioned labs are also being used in outreach activities to the community, promoting knowledge transfer. This reflects a high operational intensity, accompanied by significant maintenance and investment costs.
