Abstract:

Complete dentures are used in the treatment of edentulous patients. Due to economic factors, conventional complete dentures remain the first choice, especially in older patients. Retention problems are often related to loss of bone support due to resorption of the mandibular alveolar crest, requiring more complex prosthetic treatment compared to the maxilla. Denture adhesives are marketed in the form of gels, powders, creams and adhesive strips, which are placed between the denture base and the oral mucosa. Denture adhesives improve the patient's quality of life by promoting stability. Adhesives are short or long chain synthetic polymers. Their usual components include carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and polyvinylmethyl ether/maleic acid (PVM-MA), antimicrobial agents and plasticizing or flavoring agents. The aim of this study is to compare original and white brands adhesives in the European Union.
